Naomi is a board-certified music therapist, performer, and instructor. She received her Bachelor’s degree in music therapy from Colorado State University a Master of Arts in music therapy from The University of Iowa, and is currently completing her PhD in Music Therapy from The University of Iowa.
As a music therapist, Naomi works in community, telehealth, and school-based settings with children of all ages. She practices from a play-based, Community Music Therapy perspective and believes that the role of the therapist is to build relationships with therapy participants through collaboration in order to address areas of growth and identity that are meaningful to therapy participants. Naomi’s work is informed by ecological theories and social justice movements such as Community Music Therapy, disability justice, and critical race theory.
As an instructor, Naomi fosters a student-centered learning environment that strives to provide opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning, work collaboratively, and develop their own musical identities. She provides individual and group lessons for piano, guitar, and songwriting.
